The Center for Online Learning PROVIDES RESOURCES and FACILITIES to support faculty video and multimedia projects and assists you in incorporating interactivity and assessment into your learning content.

Instructional videos improve content authenticity, reinforce learning, and meet today's student learning preferences. Interactive multimedia offers a more inclusive and accessible learning experience for our students and increases content engagement.

Interactive Content Design and Development

Interactive learning requires the learner to participate actively in the learning process. It enhances learner engagement, motivation, critical thinking, and retention. The Center for Online Learning offers the following interactive learning design and development services: 

  • Integrate formative assessments and evaluations in video. Create knowledge checks to ensure learners’ understanding of the content.
  • Integrate gamification design principles to increase student engagement.
  • Design user interfaces that are intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing.
  • Select appropriate multimedia elements, including images, videos, animations, and simulations, to enhance understanding.
  • Embed interactive content directly into Canvas for easy tracking, grading, and management.

Professional Facilities and Software

The Faculty Media Room is designed to support faculty in creating high-quality video lectures () and faculty introduction videos (). The COL’s dedicated multimedia specialist is available to assist with professional video recording and editing.

Mediasite is a web portal for videos that allows course instructors to record, upload, share, and view video content within Canvas courses. The combined power of Canvas with Mediasite ensures all your video lectures have a central and secure home with Mediasite's in-video search, engagement tools, interactive assessment, and viewership stats.
