Lights! Camera! Action! 蜜桃影像 Offers New Jersey Film Academy Industry Credentials

New initiative addresses entertainment industry demand in the Garden State.

March 28, 2025, Jersey City, NJ 鈥 New Jersey is considered the birthplace of the silent film era that featured the work of director D.W. Griffith and stars Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, Lionel Barrymore, and the Marx Brothers along the Hudson River. In the serial 鈥淭he Perils of Pauline,鈥 damsel in distress Pearl White was seen clinging to the cliffs of the Fort Lee Palisades. Actors, studios, and production crews later relocated to Hollywood. A century later, the Garden State is reclaiming its status as a hub for film and television production. Netflix and Lionsgate expansions into New Jersey, as well as Palisades Stages in Kearny, and Cinelease in Jersey City signal the demand is growing for a skilled, homegrown workforce.

Those who successfully complete the Academy鈥檚 curriculum will receive a certificate of completion and connections to internships and entry-level jobs.

The New Jersey Film Academy offers four curriculum courses that were modeled on a best-in-class program: Introduction to the Entertainment Industry, On-set Production, Production Office and Accounting, and Hair, Makeup, and Wardrobe. Beginning April 7, HCCC will offer 鈥淪cript to Screen: Introduction to the Entertainment Industry,鈥 the prerequisite course required for the three other courses. Students will learn industry standards, practices and procedures; script development including group writing and story pitching; on-set safety, audiovisuals, and documents; production, post-production and distribution; and more. The course is taught by Hisani P. Dubose who brings nearly three decades of experience performing in film, television and theater to her instruction.

鈥溍厶矣跋 is fertile ground for the entertainment industry that enriches our lives through cinema and TV,鈥 said HCCC President Dr. Christopher Reber. 鈥淢any great films like the Bob Dylan biopic 鈥楢 Complete Unknown鈥 were produced here in Hudson County. We are honored to be among the first community colleges to help lead this industry comeback in New Jersey.鈥
